LACK OF WIND

Yachts Hampered (X.Z P. 4 Stuff Correspondent > SYDNEY Lack of wind again cost New Zealand dearly in the world 18-footer yachting championships on Sydney Harbour yesterday The second heat, like the first on Sunday, was sailed in the lightest of winds and the four New Zealand boats, rigged for stronger weather, did not do well. The second race of the five race series went to the New South Wales boat, Willie B, with Thomas Cameron and Associated Motor Club, also, of New South Wales, in second and third places Guiness Lady, of New Zealand was fourth and the placings of the other New Zealanders were Cool Leopard sixth. Yogi Bear seventh and Smirnoff ninth The New Zealand team man-; ager, Mr R Kean, commeu i ted later: “We can’t win in these light winds. We've got to have a stronger breeze. | ‘Yesterday, between races, the wind was good and fresh and would have suited us well. But today, nothing" The first two yachts outclassed the rest of the 13-boat field. Willie B and Thomas Cameron finished about eight minutes in front of Associa ted Motor Club and she was about 90 seconds ahead of Guiness Lady.
