LUNCH-TIME MUSIC
The Band of the New Zealand Army will give a lunchtime pop concert in Victoria Square today and a week later will play again at the same time, from 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m., near the Scott statue. If the concerts prove successful the band will give more concerts in popular lunchtime areas in the city in summer months.
The band of 30 players will be under the baton of the Army Director of Music (Lieutenant J. D. Carson), who recently returned to the band after a tour of duty in Malaysia. Many members and former members of the New Zealand national bands are members of the band. Five of them are to tour with the 1970 National Band to Japan, Europe and North America this year.
