More Work In Nepal

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 4. Sir Edmund Hillary will leave later this month to work on another aid and construction project in Nepal. The aims of the expedition are to build five new schools at- altitudes between 9000 ft and 13,500 ft, and to enlarge a Sherpa hospital. The team plans to lay a mile pipe-line to carry water from a stream to the famous monastery at Thyangboche, resting under Everest. Another project is the construction of a 60ft-span bridge across a river. Sir Edmund Hillary had hoped to get permission from the Nepalese Government to climb the unconquered Karolung Peak (21,362 ft but the request has neither been granted nor refused. If permission is granted, he will seek a delay until next year before an attempt is made on the peak. He will return in June, after a two-week trip to the United States.
