MISS GILLIAN FRANCIS, of Christchurch, ballerina to the New Zealand Ballet who has been granted leave of absence to dance with the Australian Ballet. Miss Francis will dance with the Australian company in “Coppelia” at the Moomba Festival this month. At the Adelaide Festival next month she will appear In the full-length ballet “Don Quixote,” a new production of the Russian classic, re-created for the Australian Ballet by Rudolf Nureyev, who will dance the lead with Lucette Aldous. Miss Francis will also dance in Balanchine’s “Serenade” and Ray Powell’s “Symphony” during the season. She will return to the New Zealand Ballet in June and appear with this company at Expo 70 in Japan.
