Museum Of Nature

Sir,—l wish to congratulate the director and staff of the Canterbury Museum on the excellent series of articles that have been appearing in “The Press” under the above title since October 15, 1966. Would it be possible, to include in the series, an article contributed by each museum department informing people of the work undertaken in the various department* such as the preparation of dioramas, etc?—Yours, etc., INTERESTED TEACHER. January 12,1970. [Dr Roger Duff, director of the museum, replies as follows: “I thank ‘lnterested Teacher* for the encouraging remarks on the Museum of Nature series which I learn from others is regularly awaited from Nelson to Dunedin. A weekly clipping also goes, at his request, to Mr Rewi Alley, Of Peking. Producing a weekly feature does however Impose somewhat of a burden on the comparatively small pool of staff contributors concerned. From this point of view we welcome the proposal that the public might be interested to read articles with an emphasis on our less dramatic ‘behind the scenes’ activities which range from the preparation of a catalogue to the setting out of insect specimens.”]
