PLOWMAN, ( Academic Registrar. 4314 LINCOLN COLLEGE (UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE) CHAIR IN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS THE Council of Lincoln College invites applications for the Chair in Agricultural Economics, which will become vacant in December, 1970, with the appointment of Professor B. P. Philpott to the T. G. Macarthy Chair of Economics at Victoria University. The complement of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Marketing at present consists of a Professor of Agricultural , Economics (this position), a Professor of Marketing, two Senior Lecturers and two Leej turers. The successful applicant would be responsible for the supervision of existing Agricultural Economics courses and also for the expansion and development of these courses in the new degree in Agricultural Economics and Commerce which the College proposes to introduce in 1971, and for which further teaching appointments will be made in due course. The successful applicant may be considered by Council for appointment as Head of the Department from 1971. The Professor of Agricultural Economics would be encouraged by the provision of grants and research assistance to develop and direct programmes of Agricultural Economics research at present being conducted by the Agricultural Economics Research Unit, which is associated with the Department of Agricultural Economics and Marketing and which was established in 1962 with a recurring grant from the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. An IBM 1130 Computer with extended storage is available at the College and access to , larger computer systems can : be arranged. Applicants should hold an advanced University degree, preferably in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or Commerce, with special qualifications and experience in teaching or research in Agricultural Economics, or in any branch of economics as applied to agriculture. It is desired that the successful applicant take up duties towards the end of 1970 at a date to be negotiated. The appointee will be apappointed to the position within the existing range of professorial salaries, the commencing salary being in accordance with , qualifications and experience within the range $7400-810,500 per annum. These salaries are at present under review by the University Salaries Committee and a new scale will apply as from April 1, 1970.
