CROSSING CRASH

32 Children Killed

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 29. GrieLstriken parents filed into a mortuary overnight, seeking to identify 32 children killed when an electric train ploughed into a school bus on a level crossing.

Twenty-one of the children —aged between seven and 18 —have been identified so far, but officials said others killed in yesterday’s crash at nearby Henley-on-Klip were mutilated beyond recognition. Witnesses said that the bus—carrying about 60 white children home from school—stalled at the level crossing as a two-coach electric mail train thundered towards it. Sixteen children were reported injured, some of them seriously, after the train ripped into the bus and carried it several hundred yards along the track.
