Von Braun’s New Post

(N Z P A -Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, Jan. 28. Dr Wernher Von Braun, the German-born rocket expert. today was appointed to a top post in Washington to plan future United States space missions. Dr Thomas O. Paine, administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, announced that the 57-year-old space expert would become deputy associate administrator for planning of N.A.S.A. Dr Von Braun, who for a quarter of a century has been a leader in space rocket development, is at present director of the George C. Marshall space flight centre in Huntsville, Alabama. He will be succeeded there by his deputy, Dr Eberhard Rees. Dr Von Braun was largely responsible for development of the V2 rockets used to bombard London and other parts of southern England in World War 11.
