Cook Cannon For N.Z.
; (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 12. The Australian Government has decided to present New Zealand with a cannon from Captain Cook’s ship, the Endeavour. Six cannon were found off the coast of Queensland early last year. Announcing the presentation today, the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Seath) said: “The presentation of the cannon, one of six jettisoned from the Endeavour nearly 200 years ago, is to mark the occasion of the bicentenary of New Zealand’s discovery by Captain Cook.”
