The second naval member of the Royal New Zealand Navy (Commodore R. T. Hale) on Thursday paid an inspection Visit to Ripa island, where id sea c*d*ts from ell over New Zealand are in camp. ’ Commodore Male presented a clasp to the long service and good Conduct medal Of Chief Petty Officer R. Lasseter Of the Royal New Zealand N«vy. Th* recipient, who was born in England, joined the Royal Navy as a seaman boy in April, 1937. Me transferred to the Iloyal New Zealand Navy in January, 1952. By March, Chief Petty Officer Lasseter will have served nearly 33 were token to Ripa Island by the sda cadet's launch Slid shewn over the establishment. Those invited included the member of Parliament for Lyttelton, Mr T. M. MCGuigah, the chairman Of the Lyttelton HarbOUf Board, Mr F. I. Suttofi, and the harbourmaster, Captain ft Holden. The guests were entertained at lunch.
