General Boy Wins Again

General Boy. winner of the Kumara Gold Nuggets on Saturday, held his form to win the Anniversary Handicap, the main race at the Westland Racing Cluh’a meeting yesterday. The consistent Martha Bell won the second i«a fl» Fox Glacier Handicap, after a tussle with Merrimac. Tbe General Boy—Martha Bell combination was popular and returned only $7.40. The General Boy—Merrimac concession double was worth $13.35. The racing opened in warm, overcast weather. There were two or three misty showers but the track was good. F. H. Skelton tried for an all-the-way win on Arlr in the Anniversary Handicap, and almost succeeded. General Boy mastered the veteran only about 80 yards from the post. At the flve furlongs Aair led General Boy by three lengths. Molly Brown and Pickawyn were next in a gap of two lengths.
A?ir was still nicely clear earning to the home turn, where General Boy was second and Genera) Gilbert was recovering ground lost early. General Boy had the strongest finish, and it carried him to a length victory over Asir. General Gilbert was two lengths back third, just beating the atronglyfihiahing Golden Promise. Chota, Flowing Gold, and Pickawyn were the best of the others. Merrimae almost managed
an all-the-way win in the Fox Glacier Handicap. Marth* Beil was in a gap of two lengths behind Merrimac on the home turn, where Joyalice was weakening, ahead of Trickster. Our Leigh Gay Baron, and Haast.
Martha Bell reeponded gamely in her chase after Merrimae and came out on too by a utek. Trickster was third, two lengths back, beating Our Leigh by inches. Then came Gay 'Baron, Joyalice, and Haast
