Pollution Law Review Urged
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. A call for a comprehensive review of legislation covering all forms of pollution was made today by the DirectorGeneral of Lands (Mr R. J. Maclachlan). “Someone should be looking at the powers of the various bodies we have dealing with pollution to see whether they are positive enough,” he said.
“Many countries overseas have pollution control legislation, but it is not being enforced. This could be the case in New Zealand. We might not be following up our legislation as we should be.”
Mr Maclachlan has just returned from India where he attended an international conference on the conservation of nature and natural resources.
