No Regionalisation?

The Banks Peninsula and Amberley racing dubs were advised yesterday that the New Zealand Racing Conference executive did not intend to make any submissions about regionalisation of racing to the Royal Commission into Racing.

The secretary of the conference (Mr R. A. Algie) has advised Mr S. Mackay, secretary of the Banks Peninsula and Amberley clubs that , after hearing representatives of the majority of clubs which had been asked to conduct their future meetings on • other courses the executive had decided to accept their representations not to make submissions to the Royal Commission. “The executive committee will not now submit that any particular dub should be required to race on any particular course,” Mr Algie wrote. It had been proposed that Amberley should race at Rangiora and Banks Peninsula at Riccarton. Mr Mackay said yesterday that his clubs could not yet . consider that the regionalisation issue would no longer be considered. "Today's letters from the conference simply say that its executive will not make submissions on the matter," Mr Mackay said. “It’s quite possible the com-

mission will hear submissions on the subject from some other organisation. And its possible the commission might have a look at the question of regionalisation regardless of any submissions or lack of them.” The conference executive’s decision has been welcomed

by the Westland Racing Club president (Mr J. B. Hood). “I am delighted to have this assurance from the conference executive, which means that my committee will now be able to carry out the improvements planned,” Mr Hood said yesterday.
