HAPPENING IN HAMILTON

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Dec. 8. Two hundred people sat on the grass in Parana Park, Hamilton, to listen to the music of two local blues bands. The happening began at 2 p.m. and finished about 5 p.m. After the people had left the caretaker’s wife said that nothing detrimental had been done to the park, and it would have been impossible to complain about Hie conduct of the audience. But the Hamilton parks director (Dr G. S. D. Heather) has other thoughts on the matter.

He said today that no application had been made to the Council for permission to hold the happening. "It’s most unlikely permission would be given,” he said. “Parana Park was given to the city for the use of children. The council takes a dim view of this sort of thing.”
