Success Again In Skating

The New Zealand team was again successful when the world speed rink roller-skating championships continued at Mar del Plata, Argentina, yesterday.

The secretary of the New Zealand Roller Skating Federation (Mr R. Alexander, of Christchurch) yesterday rang the team manager (Mr D. Carruthers) who said that D. Hayes (Hastings) won his second gold medal of the championships, in the 5000 metres; and that G. Glover (Christchurch), gained his

second silver medal with a second place in the 1000 metres. Hayes, in the 5000-metre event, beat de Cesaris, who won the event in the previous championships. Glover was again beaten by G. Cknterella (Italy), who has been world champion for six years In succession. Tomorrow, the final day of the championships, both the New Zealanders will compete in the 10,000 metres and the 10,000 metres two-man relay. New Zealand and Italy have a lead over all other competing cations.
