Water Polo Juniors Hold Seniors To Narrow Win
The Canterbury water polo team came from one goal behind In Ite game against the representative under-31 team last evening to win, 4-s. The younger playere at times were more than a match for the seniors and took full advantage of the numerous free throws awarded to them. R. Gunthorp and D. Redd always looked dangerous in front of the goal-mouth and R. Tweedie and I. Wright proved safo backs. For the Canterbury side, the goal-keeper B. G. Spear, saved several difficult shots and ted his halves well, but the forwards repeatedly crowded the goal-mouth and often seemed reluctant to move baek on defence. Scorers: I. L. Gunthorp (3). T. M. McGlrr (2) and M. C. Scott for Canterbury, and P. G. C. Hay, D. Reid, R. Gunthorp, I.
Wright and R. Wilson for the under-21 team. Senior Contest In tbe senior competition matches, University suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Elmwood, Wharenul had a resounding victory over Christchurch, and Jellle Park continued its winning run, against Beckenham-Sockburn Park.
