D.S.I.R. FIELD DAY
■FARMERS are reminded of a field day which will be held by the Crop Research Division and associated divisions of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research at Lincoln next Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m. The field day is being subdivided into three sessions—peas, potatoes, and grass seed production. Those who come will have the opportunity of attending all three sessions as these will be given in three different cycles during the day. The session on peas will include breeding for disease resistance, high yields and quality, information on aphides and virus diseases, and on chemicals for weed control. The session on poHa-
toes demonstrates breeding for disease resistance, and also quality tests and new potato products. Grass seed production covers factors which lead to high yields and seed of excellent quality. . The organising committee advises that: — (1) Cars should enter the D.S.I.R. area by the entrance at the corner of North and West Belts in the Town Belt, Lincoln. There will be adequate direction signs. (2) Tea will be provided at lunch time, and it is suggested that farmers bring their own lunches. Afternoon tea will be served at the end of the day. (3) Note that the field day will be held wet or fine.
