The United States now had to face the fact that women were an intellectual force which should be introduced into the economy, Mrs Solon said yesterday. "Industries will have to come to grips with this and change working hours for women, so they can be hemo when .their children need them,” she said. “There should also be Governmentsponsored nursery schools.” Skilled women were wasted behind the kitchen sink. They needed the stimulation of an outside interest and could he a valuable part of tpelr country’s work force.
‘I de not think toe brain has any sex. Women who are equally talented and as well educated as men should have the same opportunities. One out of every three women in the United States works, not because she needs toe money, but beeause she cannot be content with scrubbing the bathroom floor.” Conditions were difficult for working wives because domestic help was excessively expensive and hard to come by in toe United States, Mrs floloniaid, Not many people wanted to be domestics any more, and this was why the C9-9Peration of toe Government and toe industries was important to women.
