Water Polo Final
Wharenul defeated JeUle Park, 11-5, last evening In the Christchurch water polo final for the Ryan Trophy. The match was more Interesting from the evenness of the play than the closeness of the scores, and Wharenul had to struggle for every goal. At some stages play degenerated into almost a brawl but predominantly the ball was passed quickly round the pool and all the players swam considerable distances. The shooting was an Improvement on that seen in recent club matches, and K. Burrowes (Wharenul) and M. Gaudinet (Jellle Park) were forced to work hard In their respective goals. Both played extremely well, saving numerous difficult Shota, while Burrowes showed outstanding form by saving two penalties early in the game. Scorers were:— Wharenul: I. L. Gun thorp 5, T. M. McGlrr 2, P. Mulligan, R. Tweedie, R. B. Erickson. R. A. Leach; Jellle Park: D. Reid 3, and R. Pirle 2.
