A range of 14-ton trucks and tippers powered by a new 6227 c.c. six-cylinder diesel engine has been announced by Ford. The new range is called the D9OO series, and the new in-line engine produces 113.5 b.h.p. net at 2800 r.p.m. There are five models in the D9OO range, with wheelbase lengths ranging from 120 in to 206 in. The vehicles have a new high-tensile steel laddertype chassis frame.

In addition to its new «.2-lLtre diesel, Ford has announced a 4162 c.c. four-cylinder diesel engine and a 5948 c.c. six-cylinder unit. The four-cylinder engine produces 73 b.h.p. net at 2800 r.p.m.. and the six produces 103 b.h.p. net at 2800 r.p.m. The new engines will replace the existing engines in all D series trucks. They will also replace existing industrial in-line units.

The 17-year life of Vauxhall Motors’ most successful Bedford light van range, the CA series, has ended. The CF series,, which replaces them, offers higher performance and payload capacity, and there are 25 models to choose from. Each of the five basic semi-forward control models has five type variants, each available with either petrol or diesel engines. The petrol engines available are the 1599 c.c. and 1975 c.c. overheadcam Victor units, and the diesels are Perkins 1760 c.c. and 2524 c.c. units.
