Hamersley Profit Up

(N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, October 15.

The Australian iron ore' miner, Hamersley Holdings, Ltd, has surpassed its 1968 profit in the first nine months of 1969. Profit Was $18,560,000 compared with $17,951,774. However, profit for the September quarter was below the June quarter figures; the September quarter net earnings of $6,716,000 were $864,000 below the June quarter results.

It is understood this mainly reflects the availability of a smaller amount of shipping space to take ore exports during the quarter. Profit calculations are made not on a basis of ore extraction but shipments. Ore shipments in the latest period, at 3,479,000 tons, were 100,000 less than in the June quarter. The latest three months were still the second best quarter on record.
