Backing For Concorde

France will spend 126.5 million francs (about $20,850,000) more on the Concorde, the British-French supersonic airliner, and other aircraft prototypes next year. The civil aviation budget for 1970 totals 1,725,518,802 francs (about s2B2m), an increase of 109 million francs (about $18m) above that for this year. More than half of the 1970 expenditure is earmarked for the building of prototypes, the Concorde and the European airbus project being allotted 911 million francs (about slsom). Concorde 001 yesterday made its fastest flight, reaching mach 1.15, 93 miles an hour faster than sound. It has now flown for three hours at supersonic speeds since October 1.
