OVERSEAS TRADING
SYDNEY Yesterday’s trading was characterised by widespread profit taking among the speculative mining and oil stocks, which tended to ease gradually downwards throughout the day. In anticipation of good news from the next assay result there was another rush for Poseidon which once agadn touched 3000 before closing at 2850, The heavy-weights were steady, with Mount Isa rising 16 to 976. The oils were easier with Genoa falling to 46. Industrials were firm. B.H.P. gaining 15 to 1420. Other leaders to improve were 1.C.1., C.S.R, and Bank of New South Wales. The closing tone was unsettled.

MELBOURNE Losses were more general In the mining and oil section on the Melbourne Stock Exchange yesterday as trading became ir regular. Falls outnumbered rises 103 to 48. Stocks (o register falls included Metals Exploration down 60c to 840 e, .Queensland Mines down 100 c to 1100 c, and North Kalgurlie down 30c to 840 c. Poseidon pulled up 100 c to 2750 c, after touching 2900 c during the day. 8.H.P., C.S.R. and Dunlop firmed.
