Badminton Squad
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The New Zealand men’s badminton squad to prepare for the final stages of the Thomas Cup competition in Malaysia next year has been announced. It is: J. Compton, D. B. Higgins, M. Stossel (Wellington), R. H. Purser, B. Purser (Taranaki), J. Rowe, W. Johns (Auckland); G. Millar (Canterbury). The squad will take part in six week-end training courses before the team leaves on May 7 for Kuala Lumpur. The national federation hopes to provide the team with match play before it arrives in Kuala Lumpur. Singapore, Bangkok and Penang have been named as likely venues for lead-up matches.
