Talk On Heart Research
Dr Michael Deßakey, the world-renowned heart surgeon now visiting New Zealand in support of the National Heart Foundation’s appeal, will give a public address in Christchurch this evening. Dr Deßakey will speak in the Winter Garden at 8 p.m. on the role of research in heart disease. He has already visited Auckland and Wellington, and will call at both the Princess Margaret Hospital and the Christchurch Hospital today. At the Princess Margaret Hospital he will address a clinical meeting, and at the Christchurch Hospital he will show and comment on a film about heart transplants.
Dr Deßakey is a pioneer of arterial surgery and was the first to develop an artificial heart He is professor of surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
