FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone 200 miles west of Northland is drifting slowly east. A strong disturbed west to north-west airstream flows on to the south and west of the South Island. Forecast:
Canterbury.—North-westerlies, fresh at times inland and spreading occasionally to the coast; mainly fine, with a few cloudy areas, chiefly in the west; mild this afternoon. Outlook: mainly fine. Marlborough and Nelson.—Fresh and gusty north-westerlies about Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate, variable winds; a few cloudy areas this morning, but mainly fine and becoming mild. Outlook: similar weather. Buller and Westland.—Cloudy at times; a few drizzle patches this morning and again from evening; moderate day temperatures, with moderate variable winds. Outlook: cloudy, with periods of rain.
