Many Asian badminton internationals are included in the 26 applications the New Zealand Badminton Federation has so far received for the post of national coach. Among the applicants, announced by a federation spokesman, are Ong Poh Lim, of Malaysia, who reached the final of the All England singles championships and won recognition as an expert doubles player in Thomas Cup competition, and Bobby Chee, a leading coach in Malaysia. Amrit Dewan, one of several Indians seeking the post, has already served a term in New Zealand as a coach. Three Indonesian applicants are Tan Joe Hok, who has represented his country several times in Thomas Cup play, and N Joo Kin Bie and Ide Po Djian, who have both appeared six times for their country. Among other applicants are Ng Boon Ooh and Teh Kneng Ohooi, of Malaysia, and Dipu Gosh and T. N. Seth, of India.
