Labour Meets

The political and industrial wings of the Labour movement met yesterday at the Trades Hall, Christchurch, the meeting was addressed by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) and the president of the Canterbury Trades Council (Mr R. A. Hill) was chairman. After a statement had been given of the Labour Party’s election policy, and a number of questions had been asked from the floor, the meeting passed a vote of confidence in the Labour Party and in Mr Kirk as its leader. The meeting lasted two hours and a half and was attended by Labour candidates from throughout Canterbury, by trade union secretaries, and by executive members of the Labour Representation Committee and the Trades Council.
