Bank Clerk Gambled With Stolen Money
* / (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, October 13. A Palmerston North bank clerk gambled $2520 of hjs employer’s money on racehorses, 4 the Magistrate’s Court was told today.
Keith Murray Parrish, aged 28, a bank officer, admitted Stealing sums of money totalling this amount between December 9 last year and Septefnber 15, from:,the National < Bank of New Zealand. Detective Senior-Sergeant D, J. Dwan said that when las l month his retfef clerk found . 02520- deficiency lij the records, Parrish admitted respdnsibUtty. j Investigations revealed ir- , regular entries as far back , as September, 1968. Last t August the total deficiency ( was $5998, but Parrish won , a $4BOO double on September 8, and reduced the amount substantially. his balance. He had used for betting all but $lBO of the money he stole. Mr J. R. P. Horn, S.M., remanded him to October 20 on bail for sentence.
