Whitebait Run
Whitebait made a belated run in many Buller streams yesterday. The season had previously produced few results but the whitebait ran freely from early morning. Some fishermen along the Buller River got 1201 b, groups caught much more than that and very few failed to get enough whitebait to make the day the most successful of the year. At times the fish were running wide in immense shoals. There were some good catches also from the Orowaiti River, the best about 401 b, but the shoals were not so large in country streams. The price is still $1 per lb on the river bank.—(F.O.O.R.)
