Erratic Wool Sale

Fine wool met an erratic demand nt the second Christchurch sale of the season yesterday. Compared with the Dunedin sale last week, it was described as being in buyers’ favour, but compared with the Christchurch sale last month, it was about 2c per lb down in some instances as much as 3c. Wools of 50s to 56s qualities were mainly affected. This covered Corriedale and fine crossbred, ns well

as the big quantity of halfbred that was catalogued in the sale. The hill-country wools were well up to standard, some large clips being included, but the paddock wools were not up to the usual standard of an October sale. The leading prices of the day were: Merino, 61c; halfbred, 52c; Corriedale, 51c; crossbred, 39fc; and second-shear, 37c. A full report of the sale appears on Page 7.
