LOWER LIMIT

Extensions To Motels

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, October 7. To enable more new hotels and motels to qualify for the special depreciation allowance announced last year, the Government has approved the lowering of minimum size limits for extensions to existing visitor accommodation. This was announced by the Minister of Tourism, Mr Thomson, when he addressed the annual conference of the Hotel Association of New Zealand at Queenstown today. Mr Thomson said the liberalisation of conditions was an incentive to the provision of more good accommodation and increased earnings of overseas exchange through tourism. The total minimum bed requirements in Auckland and Wellington projects have been reduced from 150 to 100. In other areas additions of 20 beds in a minimum of 10 rooms can qualify if the new and existing beds number at least 50.

The Jackpot for the Banks Peninsula Trotting Club's meeting at Rangiora on Saturday will open at 34946.50. —Advt.
