Parks Authority To Tour Nelson Area

(From Our Own Reporter) I WELLINGTON, September 19. Members of the National Parks Authority began a tour of the Nelson Lakes National Park and the Abel Tas-, man National Park today. The party travelled from Nelson Airport to Lake Rotoiti to inspect the West Bay camp ground. Mount Robert Road terminus, Rotoiti Lodge and the head of the lake (by launch). On Saturday the party will: travel to Lake Tennyson by road, and will inspect Wairoa ■

I Valley and the proposed addii tions to the park. On Sunday the party will leave Rotoiti , Lodge by road for Kaiteriteri and will travel by launch to Totaranui, where the camp ground and walk will be inspected in the afternoon. The party will then go to Takaka On Monday the party will ■ leave Takaka by road for Collingwood and will change into a four-wheel-drive vehicle for Farewell Spit It will return to Takaka for lunch, and fly back to Wellington from Nelson later in the afternoon. The recommendations of the National Development Conference call for a national training scheme, at technician : level, for logging officers, and correspondence courses for forest rangers and wood tech- ■ nologists.
