ACCIDENTS Telephone Box

Hit By Van A telephone box at the corner of Fitzgerald Avenue and Avonside Drive was wrecked when it was struck by a light van about 7 a.m. on Saturday. The van, driven by Michael Joseph Paul, of 11 Bridge Street, South Brighton, hit the telephone box after being involved in a collision with a car and a trailer. Mr Paul was treated at the casualty department of the Christchurch Hospital for chest injuries. The car was driven by Brian Martin Maunsell, of 7 Rees Street, Richmond. Car Hits Bank.—Two persons were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital after a car hit a bank in Halswell Junction Road about 1 a.m. yesterday. They are Anthony Peter McFarlane, of No. 3 R,D., Amberley, who suffered head and chest injuries, and Paul Carpenter, of 9 Third Street, Belfast, who suffered head injuries. Car Hits Drums.—Two persons were injured when a car hit drums at the Ohoka Road interchange, on the Northern Motorway about 1 a.m. yesterday. Alison Hassell, of 105 Percival Street Rangiora, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from head, arm and leg injuries. Mervyn George Lee, of 35 Barbour Street, Linwood, was treated at the hospital’s casualty department. Head Injuries.—When a car struck a ditch and a bank in Brookside Terrace about 5.45 p.m. bn Saturday James Brook, of 5 Bateman Avenue, North Fendalton, suffered head injuries. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital.
