PINEAPPLE IMPORTS
Licensing To Remain (IV Zl Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. There will be no immediate exemption of canned pineapple from import licensing. The Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton), said today that canned pineapple had been proposed for exemption last December, and manufacturers had been given the right to object Some objections were received and these had been referred to the tariff and Development Board. ' Mr Shelton recently ihet re- 1 presentatives of the Malaysian pineapple industry board and other interested export-, ers, and he told them that time additional licences would be granted. A detailed announcement would be made in the customs bulletin early in September, the Minister said.
