Sobers, the West Indies and Nottinghamshire skipper, failed yesterday by three minutes to hit the fastest century of the season in the Enghsh county cricket Sobers, after looking certain to beat R. Gillian's season-best mark of lOlmiii, finally passed the 100 in 103 minutes. After racing to 98 in 95 minutes, Sober lost the strike and then his partner while the minutes ticked away.
