SEWERAGE PLAN
The Christchurch Drainage Board agreed last evening to extend its sewers beyond the urban fence in Port Hills Road, Avoca Valley Road, Hills Road, and Bunrood Road. Reporting on 13 small areas of urban-type development at present outside the urban area, but contiguous to it, Mr P. J. McWilliam, the chief engineer, said it would be possible to investigate and design services for the four most urgent areas—the ones the board approved—over the next two or three years without delaying existing programmes. He estimated the cost of the work at $51,730.
Road-Tunnel Culvert
The Heathcote County Council advised the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening that it still held the board responsible for the retention dam at the toll plaza of the Christchurch-Lyttelton road tunnel; but the board said the problem had been referred to the North Canterbury Catchment Board.
