Two Research Projects

Two major research projects, into the effect of alcohol and anii-histamine drugs on driver performance, will be sponsored by the Jim Clark Foundation.

Professor A. H. Beckett, head of the department of pharmacy at Chelsea College (University of London), will be in charge of both projects. Preliminary • reports are expected to be published by the end of the year. Special equipment has been

designed for the investigation into the effect on drivers of different blood alchohol levels.

The second of the experiments, which will continue for two years, will cover the effects of anti-histamine drugs, both on their own and when combined with alcohol.

The foundation was set-up last year as a memorial to Jim Clark, to study all aspects of driver safety.
