CHAIR OF FINANCE
Victoria Move (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. A chair of money and finance is to be established at Victoria University soon, with Professor F. W. Holmes in charge. University authorities said
today that the chair would be established as soon as Professor Holmes was. ready to take up his new appointment, probably early next year. He is at present economics manager at the Tasman Pulp and Paper Mill, a position he has held for two years. The Reserve .Bank, trading and trustee banks, and Other financial institutions are providing funds for the establishment of the chair.
Appointed McCarthy professor of economics at Victoria in 1960, Professor Holmes resigned in 1967 to take up his position with Tasman Pulp and Paper. He is a former chairman of the Monetary and Economic Council.
Railway Equipment.—Plasser and Theurer, of Austria, have successfully tendered to supply the Railways Department with two track-lining machines and seven ballasttamping machines with lining equipment.—(FiO.O.R.)
