ROADING FUNDS
Increases Approved (N.Z. Press Association/ WELLINGTON, Aug. 20. The National Roads Board today approved increased allocations for this financial year amounting to $3.3 million. The supplementary allocations have been made after an increase of $5.56 million in the estimated income of the board for the year. The assistant director of roading, Mr P: F. Raynolds, told the board that in many cases the increases had allowed work already planned to be advanced. Further requests from district roads councils could be considered at the half-yearly review in OctoKer, he said. Of the new allocations, $2.14 million will be spent on State highways, $673,702 on county roads, and $489,780 on municipal streets. Details of extra allocations to individual roads districts include: No. 11 district (Nelson-Marl-S2TSJ*f b,: stat « highways. 856,096; counties, $27,366; municipalities, $18,400. No. 12 district (West Coast): State highways, $50,000; coun--31V295 219 ’ 247 ’ municipalities, No. is district (North Canterbury): State highways. $30,000: counties, $5955; municipalities, nil. No. 14 district (Canterbury); State highways, $190,000; counties. $30,730; municipalities, $22,500 No. 15 district (South Canterbury): State highways, $70,000; counties, 134,457; municipalities, $11,400.
