OPENING TOURNAMENT To mark the opening of their new Bridge Club in Law Place, the Christchurch Contract Bridge Club (!nc,i % holding the largest Bridge Tournament ever staged in trtE South Island. 104 Pairs will be seeded into 4 Sections each of 13 tables and in 2 sessions played on Saturday. August 23rd, will grade themselves into the final 4 Sections which will play on Sunday for the Opening Championship and lesser trophies. The Club wishes to acknowledge the wonderful assistance that has been given to it by local business houses. There will be about $3OO worth of prizes to be won, and the final 4 sections with a list of sponsors is as follows: CHRISTCHURCH OPENING CHAMPIONSHIP To be known as the U.E.B. Championship and prizes for the top 5 pairs have been donated by U.E.B. Ltd. AVON MOTOR LODGE PLATE This Avon Motor Lodge plate will also carry prizes for the top 5 pairs, sponsored by the Avon Motor Lodge. TRANS TOURS FLIGHT No. 1 Trans Tours have donated prizes which will go to the top 5 Pairs in this section. The lower 26 pairs from the Championship Sections in Round 2 will play for these awards.
