ASSAULT ON COUPLE
Six Youths Charged (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 21. Six youths appeared in Auckland courts on charges relating to an alleged assault on a couple in a parked car at the Savage Memorial Grounds, Orakei, early on Saturday morning. Three youths appeared in the Children’s Court and were remanded. In the Magistrate's Court, Dean Rua, aged 17, a labourer, and John Nathan, aged 17, a workman, were charged with assaulting Barry Jeffrey. No pleas were taken and both were remanded by Mr D. G. Sinclair, S.M., on bail for a week.
Terrence Moana Shepherd, aged 18, a workman, entered no plea on a charge, of robbing Barry Jeffrey of a wrist watch valued at $5O. He was remanded in custody for a week. Detective Sergeant T. J. Nunan said further charges were pending.
