RUMOURS DENIED
Tate Death Case (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21. Police, breaking their silence in the murders of the actress, Sharon Tate, and four others, confirmed yesterday that narcotics were found at the Benedict Canyon death site but denied rumours that the victims had been sexually mutilated. A spokesman said that because of the many rumours in the case, police felt “compelled to comment on them in the interests of accuracy.” The spokesman said that more than 200 persons had already been interviewed in the case and that many others across the United States were being sought for questioning. The spokesman said that Thomas Harrigan, who turned himself in to police on Monday after learning he was the subject o f a search in Canada, was “one of the individuals whom we believed could be of assistance to us ... he came in voluntarily and was co-operative with interviewing officers.”
