TWO NEW FREEZERS
Installation In Holmdale Two refrigerated lockers are being installed in the Holm Shipping Company’s 911-ton motor vessel Holmdale at Lyttelton. This will, in effect, double the vessel’s freezer cargo space. Each locker is 30ft long, 14ft wide and 9ft 6in high, with a capacity of 2800 cu. ft The lockers will be piped to the vessel’s existing refrigeration plant. Two fuel tanks, each capable of holding 72C0 gallons, are also being installed. As a result of this the Holmdale will be able to carry 38,000 gallons of fuel as cargo to the Chathams. The Union Steam Ship Company’s Waikare is also increasing her refrigerated cargo space at Lyttelton.
