CAPACITY FOR MORE
A pilot survey showed that the New Zealand engineering industry had the capacity to “pick up a lot more work” with its existing resources, said Mr L. J. K. Futter, assistant secretary of the Overseas Division of the Department of Industries and Commerce yesterday.
Mr Futter told the export seminar arranged by his department that an expert from the private sector of industry had been retained by the department to make a pilot market survey. The results had been encouraging. He had been asked what steps the Government was taking to ensure more economic use of expensive machinery in New Zealand industry.
