Obituary REV. F. ROBERTSON
The Rev. Fred Robertson, who died in Christchurch on Sunday, was a retired Presbyterian minister who served at Kaiapoi, Lincoln, Kaikoura, Pukurau and Bluff after his ordination in 1923.
Mr Robertson, who was aged 74, was born in Austra. lia and came to New Zealand at the age of five. He was educated at Christchurch West High School and Wellington College, Victoria and Otago University Colleges and Knox College, with a break for war service with the Rifle Brigade in Europe, where he held the rank of sergeant-major.
In 1947 Mr Robertson went to Scotland as a minister of the Church of Scotland, and he served there until his retirement and return to New Zealand six years ago. He was regarded as an authority on medieval plainsong. Mr Robertson is survived by his widow and two sons, Dr M. G. Robertson, of Christchurch, and Mr G. C. Robertson, of Canberra.
