UNIVERSITY VACANCIES UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND The university invites applications for the following positions, for which applications close on the dates shown. SENIOR LECTURER IN ANIMAL HUSBANDRY (REPRODUCTION) The applicant must be a graduate in veterinary science or an honours graduate with the faculty of science. Preference will be given to a person with post-graduate qualifications and a research background. Experience in the field of reproduction with domestic animals is desirable and consideration will be given to applicants with an advanced basic scientific background. The appointee will be expected to conduct teaching and research in reproduction of animals with special reference to the control of fertility and the practice of artificial insemination and management of breeding practices. Lecturing, tutorial, supervision of practb, cal classes and post-graduate student research will be allocated In such a way as to take due account of the special interests of the appointee and the need to achieve a balance within the department. (August 29.) SENIOR LECTURER IN MATHEMATICS An applicant should possess the degree ot doctor of philosophy and have had post-doc-toral research experience In some branch of pure mathematics. The appointee will be required to deliver such lectures and carry out such other duties as may be required. He should be capable of carrying out independent Investigations in his branch of the subject and of assisting in the training of honours and research students. (August 22.) The appointee must be capable of skmed work associated with the assembly and maintenance of equipment, some highly specialised, which Is used In the Physical Chemistry laboratories. He will be expected, after preliminary training if necessary, to assist in the preparation of expertments both for undergraduate work and for research. The position is a relatively senior one within the Department, the work is very varied, Interesting and satisfying. It offers scope for ingenuity, skill and organising ability. A person who holds an appropriate degree or diploma Will be appointed as Laboratory Technologist If for which the salary range is $173.20/8181.60 per fort. ($4516/84735 p.a.)
