MECHANICAL ENGINEER A professionally qualified engineer is sought to assist the Chief Mechanical Engineer in an accelerating programme of materials handling research—initially on high pressure packaging of wool for export—and also on the provision and maintenance of laboratory equipment, buildings and services. A University degree, membership of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, or equivalent qualification is required. Applicants whoh ave special interests in particular fields of mathematics, metallurgy, refrigeration, instrumentation, etc., should supply details of same. TEXTILE MACHINERY TECHNICIAN A Technician experienced in the maintenance and operation of textile machinery is sought to assist in the setting up and running of a pilot plant to be established by the Organisation for the development of new and improved textile products and processes using New Zealand Crossbred wool. Initially the successful appointee will be required to recondition and operate a range of drawing, spinning, winding and finishing machinery which is already available. Later, the duties will involve yarn-making, dyeing and finishing machinery to be installed in the pilot plant which will be set up adjacent to the Organisation’s Laboratories. Commencing salaries for these positions will be based on qualifications and experience of the successful applicants. Superannuation is available. An allowance towards travel to Lincoln is also provided.
