Paola Pigni, of Italy, set a new world record for the women’s 1500 metres yesterday with a time of 4min 12.4sec.
The Italian girl, competing in the City of Milan one-day international meeting, cut 3.2sec off the previous record, set by Maria Gommers, of the Netherlands.
