Report On Nursing
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 17. A report prepared by the New Plymouth nursing education committee indicated that the cessation of IBmonth maternity nurse training would be premature, the Taranaki Hospital Board was told at its meeting in New Plymouth today. Shortages of midwives were more acute in the smaller centres. The committee would support any measures to improve the position by training or immigration. “It just reiterates the fact that you cannot replace the 18-month maternity nurse with the community nurse, unless you bring the community nurse up to the standard of the maternity nurse," said Dr A. J. Moss.
